Accessing Counselling in 2024

If you are looking for counselling in Lancaster in 2024, I’m glad that you have found me at Well Life Counselling. I can offer you counselling either in person or online via Zoom or similar. As a direct result of the COVID pandemic, we are seeing more and more counselling being delivered online and, it has become more mainstream and in my experience, counselling can be just as effective online and it is in person, and I am specifically trained to deliver it. There are certain advantages to online working, one of which is convenience for you, enabling you to fit it into your busy schedules without the need to travel. Also, it opens up the possibility of choosing from many more counsellors and therapists nation-wide, not just in your own locality. If you are looking for help, give me a call to discuss what you need, whether it be online or in person.

Available Counselling & Psychotherapy

Counselling & Psychotherapy is currently available both in person in Lancaster or online using Zoom. Online therapy is very mainstream these days, particularly post-pandemic. It offers flexibility and convenience and is just as effective as in-person therapy.

Counselling Availability

Please note that I will be unable to take on new clients until July 2023. If you would like counselling with me, I will be able to receive your enquiry by email from Monday 26 June 2023. I apologise for any inconvenience.

Can you access counselling right now?

Now we are in 2021, the uncertainty continues as we move into further Coronavirus restrictions. If you need help with something in your life right now, you can still receive counselling and psychotherapy.

Therapists are moving more and more to remote working – that is, holding sessions by remote means (Zoom, Skype, WhatsApp etc), making use of the wonderful technology available. In my experience, these methods of working are proving very successful and I, like many therapists in Lancaster, will be providing more remote services in the future.

However, I recognise that many people, for all sorts of reasons, cannot attend counselling by remote means and need to come to a consulting room.

Now Offering Counselling by Video and Phone during Coronavirus Uncertainty

Well Life Counselling is now offering counselling by Skype, Zoom, WhatsApp and Facetime, including a FREE 30 minute initial consultation, to help people access counselling during the uncertainty brought about by Coronavirus. Key workers are being offered significant reductions in the cost of counselling during lockdown. Don’t let Coronavirus keep you from the counselling you feel you need – call me today to discuss your requirements as help really is only a phone call away. There’s no obligation and no hassle. I look forward to hearing from you.

Coronavirus Response

On Thursday 12 March 2020 the UK government announced that we are moving out of the contain phase and into the delay phase in response to the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. It set out what we should be doing in response to these guidelines and it is important that my clients and prospective clients are aware of what Well Life Counselling is doing in line with the latest guidance.

All clients have been made aware of Well Life Counselling’s intention to abide by the latest UK government guidelines on Coronavirus and are also aware of what to do in the event that they experience any symptoms (a high temperature (37.8 degrees and above) or a new continuous cough) and the actions we will take in relation to ongoing therapy. All necessary measures are being taken to ensure that therapy can continue within the guidelines set out by the government and any need to self-isolate for a period of 7 days from the point of displaying mild symptoms.

If you are someone considering coming to Well Life Counselling for help, you can be assured that your safety and wellbeing will be taken very seriously and all precautions will be taken in line with the latest government guidance.

The recent government guidance of 12 March 2020 can be found here.

World Cancer Day 4 Feb 2020

As Head of Adult Therapy Services at CancerHelp, I have the privilege of working with cancer sufferers every week and am constantly impressed by the courage and resilience of those who, despite the immense impact upon their lives and families, continue to live their lives with cancer and strive to overcome one obstacle after another. World Mental Health Day 2019

Thursday 10 October 2019 is World Mental Health Day; an opportunity for employers, organisations and individuals to think seriously about how they can address the stigma attached to poor mental health and seek to improve the lives of millions of people who suffer, daily, from mental health issues. Suicide prevention will be at the very top of many peoples’ lists this year as hundreds of thousands of people are still taking their own lives globally each year and suicide is still the leading cause of death among young people aged 20 to 34 years in the UK.

Real People, Real Stories

For men under the age of 50, suicide is still the biggest killer. The Samaritans has launched a new campaign called “Real People, Real Stories” that seeks to share the stories of men who have gone through difficult times and highlights the fact that 2 in 5 men in England, Scotland and Wales between the ages of 20 to 59 just don’t seek help when they need it.

Having worked with Samaritans for a number of years, I can certainly recommend the value of talking to another human being about what really matters to you. I, like the Samaritans, recognise that it’s not always easy to talk to friends and family, you don’t want to be a burden, they know you too well, you worry about their reaction to what you really want to day. There are so many reasons why you might just keep it all to yourself.

It doesn’t need to be like that – there are people at the end of the phone 24 hours a day to speak with you, to listen and to hear what you want to say. This is what the Samaritans do.

Alternatively, if you are looking for counsellors in Lancaster or counsellors in Preston and want to talk about how you feel, face to face in a safe and confidential environment within the private practice sector, please call me at Well Life Counselling any time.

It really is ok not to be ok and talking to a counsellor or the Samaritans can be a life-saver. Don’t wait any longer – pick up the phone now and start talking about how you feel.

Beat Stress in 2019

Stress is the “health epidemic of the 21st Century” according to the World Health Organisation (WHO) as reported by Forbes back in 2015. As I reflect on 2018 and look forward to another year, I can’t help wondering what’s changed? My guess is that nothing has changed, and stress is still the epidemic it was back then. OK, so we may have become more accustomed to hearing about Stress in the media and might even be a little happier about admitting to its effects in our own lives but has anything really changed? Are we better at dealing with the effects of stress? Are our employers more understanding? Are we doing anything about it? Let’s face it, it’s one thing to know that there is so much more information out there about Stress and Wellbeing but it’s quite another thing to actually do anything about it. Stress and Wellbeing are likely to continue to be big news in 2019 and I hope that this coming year will be a year when we will all learn to take Stress seriously; seriously enough to do something about it in our own lives. If you are suffering from the effects of Stress right now and want to make a start in tackling it, give me a call and take the first step to a better year.
